We're starting the year off by an on-time blog post! Who would have thought!
February Summary
February is the month of Arcanus Crucis' 2 year anniversary! Even though I spent the better half of it on a journey to find myself in my own way (lol), it's still a milestone to be celebrated! After all, if there's one thing I love more than anything else in this world, it's my heart and soul, Arcanus Crucis <3
The anniversary celebration would not be complete without a brand new illustration to commemorate the occasion!
I was originally going to finish the hydrangea illustration this month, but the theme wasn't exactly celebratory to the occasion, so at the last minute I whipped together this new masterpiece in a week! I'm very pleased with how it turned out. I think this is perhaps one of the more dynamic pieces I've done, and I am in love with how beautifully holographic it looks without being actually holographic. (I tried printing it and laminating it with holo shards, and the piece actually looks better without a holo film lol).
It's funny that I sketched this piece while I was at work, at the encouragement of an assistant, and it's managed to turn into this. I've realised the importance of illustration composition, and looking at my other works, I realised how flat and dull the compositions were in comparison. So moving forward, I hope to give more life to my illustrations this year!
It would be sacrilegious to celebrate an anniversary without returning to posting on the platform. I took time off this month to actually prepare for it, and managed to have everything prepared on time! The webcomic is back to public uploads, but that also means I need to work harder to properly meet my deadlines moving forward. I need to be careful about taking on more work in my day job, lest I compromise my ability to progress my stories...
In addition to completing my first illustration of 2024 and returning to uploading online, I've also managed to complete the linearts for Chapter 11. Unfortunately, I had actually wanted to have finished this chapter this month, but progress is better than no progress!
In addition to everything, I've also managed to take time to do some quick painting practices. I haven't actually painted in about 3 months now, so I was a bit rusty with my painting, but it was enjoyable nonetheless. I didn't spend a lot of time on these two since I was playing around with some new brushes and palletes I got, so I think the outcome was pretty decent considering how little I focused on it haha!
March Goals
Work on a new dynamic illustration
Complete C11 + adapted for scheduling
Work on new storyboards and scripts
Create sticker merch prototypes
I didn't manage to schedule any breaks next month so I won't have as much free time, but I'm optimistic about keeping the momentum going! Ciao!
